MeetThat.Name: Frédéric Meunier, Kwaga’s CTO. The Naysayer (for our own good… and yours;)

Name:
Frédéric Meunier
Job title: Chief Technical Officer
Main expertise: Natural language processing, the field of linguistic Frédéric specialized into during his Ph.D in Computer Science at Paris Diderot University.
Why is he working at Kwaga? Mainly because he cares a lot about “non-functional requirements”. When you are working in a start-up, you tend to focus on “requirements”: things that your service must perform. You want to have a product and you want to have it quickly and you want it the most easy, intuitive and efficient for your users. And sometimes, you tend to forget about the “non-functional requirements”: things that are not directly visible to users, but as important as performance (how much time does it take for the servers to respond), as security or as quality of service.
And thanks to his past experience at Thales, a giant group working with clients in the aerospace and defence sectors, Frédéric is a man of details.
The so-called “non-functional requirements” are important to him. So when Kwaga’s team wants to move fast on a project or a new feature without thoroughly thinking about details beforehand, Frédéric is the voice saying “No!”.
It’s now a private joke at Kwaga’s : when you ask him something… it’s a given that his first answer will be “no”. And even if it means that we have to move a bit slower, we really value his input because in the end, it always benefits the quality of service we can provide and the user experience you can have. That’s also why Frédéric is also known as “our Temple Guardian”.
