The experts say that email can suck the creativity out of your workflow if you’re starting off the day with it, and I’d say that if you’re letting email take more than 25% of your daily workflow, then it definitely is zapping your creative juices and productivity! Next month I’ll be doing a “Email Sucks…But It Doesn’t Have To” Webinar with Alex from ContactMonkey and we’ll be revealing our “in house” secrets, talking about what apps/habits have most impacted our productivity and most importantly HOW TO ROCK YOUR INBOX.
Register now as there are only 200 spots available. First come first serve! 😉
(and yes, it’s 100% free and the 40 minutes you’ll spend with us will hopefully pay off EVERY day here on out!)
To understand what most plagues WriteThat.name users, I recently asked our power users how they use email and what their greatest pain points and solutions were. Are you surprised that over 1/2 of them say they check their email more than 20x per day?
READY FOR A CHALLENGE ??? !!!
I too, sometimes process my email as often as 15-20x a day as well, but surprisingly, it’s when I’m “less busy” and looking for work to come to me as opposed to “creating” solutions to our current challenges at WriteThat.name. When I’m busy, email really is at the end of the to-do list as I know I’m moving forward important projects that will really pay off for us. SO, here comes a challenge for you (and for me). I challenge you to only check your email 5x at most today, or for the next week or month. How does that change your day, week, month? I’m going to try it for a month to see how it changes my workflow (and will let you know in late August!). To track how you’re spending time your time differently, check out Rescuetime. (And of course, this doesn’t work for everyone as some have to be very reactive with email, but if you can, give it a try just to see what impact it could have).
